THE RESEARCH PROCESS

There are a few basic steps – the “3 Rs” -- to writing a successful research paper or project:

Research

Conduct effective research by using a process in which you:

1.     Question

2.     Gather and Evaluate

3.     Conclude

4.     Communicate

5.     Evaluate

Use Reliable Resources

1.     Make sure your resource is reliable.

2.     Use a variety of resources: electronic, print, human, audio, visual.

3.     Check with your teachers, library media specialist and other professionals when you have questions.

Responsible Use

1.     Cite your sources using MLA guidelines because it’s the ethical thing to do, not just because it’s required.
